MANAGING DIRECTOR - SeATTLE WA

Gensler China

Gensler is seeking a Managing Director for its Seattle office. The Managing Director plays an integral role in the leadership of Gensler's practice in Seattle, with responsibility for the management and financial performance of the Seattle practice.

Gensler is a client-focused firm, organized into practices charged with sharing innovation and expertise through an integrated, cross-practice exchange. At this time, primary practice areas in the Pacific Northwest include corporate and commercial (workplace), as well as academic and retail/mixed-use.

For more information about Gensler's expertise and services, please visit their website.

Role and Responsibility

The Managing Director has day-to-day management responsibility, providing overall direction for practice management, overview management of client and practice strategies, business development strategies, resource management, sustainability of profit, and other business metrics.

Managing Director

In addition to ongoing practice management responsibilities, the Managing Director has responsibility for development of new business, focused on the Pacific Northwest Region, working in conjunction with other Principals and practice leaders.

The Managing Director will also serve as a client leader, responsible for building and sustaining relationships with clients — acting as an advocate to ensure that the firm's professional services are responsive to the client's goals and objectives, while meeting agreed-upon business metrics.

As a member of Gensler's regional leadership team, the Managing Director will collaborate with other practice leaders within the NW/Asia Region and across the platform of the firm to develop initiatives that achieve recognition for Gensler as a global leader in architecture, design, planning, and consulting.

Requirements

This position requires at least 15 years of experience, with a bachelor's degree (or higher) in architecture. Candidates should have at least five years of experience in management of a studio, practice group, or regional office.

Candidates for the position should have experience working within a creative and collaborative client-focused design environment, with a commitment to provide high quality design services. In addition, candidates should have experience that demonstrates the capability to build client relationships, lead and mentor personnel, and achieve successful results with a high level of quality, productivity, and profitability.

Candidates should be licensed architects. In addition, since Gensler places a high priority on sustainable design, LEED professional accreditation is preferred.

Candidates should be versatile, self-motivated, and articulate; be experienced in working successfully with others; and have excellent communications skills.

In order to be considered for employment, candidates must be currently eligible to work in the United States.

Specific experience should include:

Proven leadership and management skills, including the ability to develop collaborative relationships that lead to successful results, whether within the firm (and across the platform of multiple offices) or externally — with clients, consultants, and other key participants in the design and development process.
Experience with management of an architectural firm, regional office, practice group, or profit center, with specific emphasis on the economics of practice.
Experience developing relationships with new and existing clients that would enhance the firm's competitive advantage and positioning in targeted market sectors.
Proven ability in creative strategy development and problem-solving.
Strong presentation skills (written, oral, and graphic), with the ability to be articulate and convincing in interviews and other presentations.
